Wouldn’t it be great if you had a limitless supply of blogging ideas that you could write about in 30 minutes or less? If you’re like me you realize that starting a blog is easy, but maintaining it is a completely different animal.
This post is for you if:
- You have trouble finding the next topic for your blog post
- You lack the time to concentrate on your blog
- You’re not making any money from your blog
- There’s a lot of competition in your niche
- Your blog posts aren’t getting any social engagement or shares
If any of these resonate with you then you are in the right place. And since I’m committed to posting fresh content every week to help you (my loyal reader) grow your online business, I’m going to share with you 8 creative and useful blogging hacks you can start using now. Let’s dig in.
1) The Stat Round-Up Post
The stat round-up is one of my favorites because it provides relevant and useful information. Checkout the stats provided below by Social Marketing Writing. It’s a great example of how to educate your audience with functional statistics and an appealing infographic.
Notice the social sharing buttons on the left side. This is crucial because it allows your readers to easily share you content so you can build links and rapidly grow subscribers.
2) The Quote Post
This post is great because everyone loves a good quote. Quotes are a powerful way to borrow authority and provide unique insights. See how Income Diary used this post type effectively:
Simple right? That’s why I love it. Read the full post on Income Diary’s website.
3) The Interview Post
The interview post is extremely effective because it allows you to “highjack” the authority of gurus in your niche. You can send a quick email to potential candidates or do an interview over the phone. All you have to do is tell them that your audience would love to hear their valuable insights. You can post a photo of their choosing on your blog and provide a Q&A format like so:
If you are able to play your cards right, you may also be able to have them broadcast your post to their list of subscribers (and allowing you to “borrow” their audience). Pro Tip: reach out to people who have recently published a book. They are usually very open for any type of promotion.
4) The List Roundup Post
The list roundup post is a great way to share best practices with your audience by synthesizing a list of strategies for your niche. These list posts tend to be the most popular posts because you are sharing what’s working now in a particular area. Take a look at phenomenal post by Jimmy Daly at Vero:
This is an excellent post because Jimmy shares 15 value-packed strategies for increasing engagement through email marketing. If you’re serious about growing your subscriber list, you’ll definitely want to use these strategies to retain your readers.
You can read Jimmy’s entire blog post here.
5) The Youtube Reaction Post
This post is one of the easiest and most effective posts. Not only is video the most engaging form of content…finding a relevant video should take all of 5 minutes. From there, all you’ll need to do is explain to your readers why it’s important to them and what you think they should take away from the video. Check out Russ Henneberry‘s post on the Salesforce Blog:
The main thing to note is how Russ begins his content with “here’s my take on this”. You can read the complete post on the Salesforce blog.
6) The YouTube Cut-Up Post
YouTube cut-up posts are the perfect posts for the “how to” posts as well as the step-by-step instructions. They can be used for anything from arts and crafts to marketing tutorials. See the fine work of this post in action from DIY Ready below:
Make sure to label each step in the process and why it’s important to the project. Bonus points for including social sharing buttons in these posts because they tend to get a lot of shares, especially on Pinterest.
7) The Crowdsource Post
By far my favorite type of blog post. The crowd source post is the perfect blend of authority hijacking, valuable content, and social reach. When done right you’ll get guru’s sharing valuable content on your blog and sometimes they’ll send it to their own network if you approach them the right way.
Check out how the world class team over at Digital Marketer does it here:
Good stuff, right? Here is a great email script for getting gurus on board:

I promise the whole thing will take 5 minutes or less.
8) The Compilation Post
The final post is the compilation post. It can be a combination of video, images, infographics and any other digital media. The more visual content you have on your post, the longer your readers will stay on your page and the better your SEO rank will be overall.
Social sharing buttons on this type of post is mandatory. Bonus points for call-to-actions and relevant product ads. You can read the entire post on Entrepreneur’s blog as well as checkout more great stuff from Neil at Quicksprout.
